We chose to do a private evening mangrove tour and are so glad we did. Collected by Meera right on time and taken to meet our guide Jan. We walked to the boat where our boatman Lan was waiting and then began the most amazing experience ever. The wildlife we saw in the quiet mangrove forest was breathtaking- monkeys, two different kingfisher, eagles, sea otters, bats and various fish- the spitting fish was incredible.
We stopped at a beautiful beach and swam as the sun went down and then an exciting ride through open sea to get the floating restaurant where we had dinner of satay, grilled fish, fried noodles and a mango salad. Very tasty and made even better by the tropical rainstorm and lightning which is something we have not experienced before.
The sheer noise of the rain was intense. Headed back when it calmed down and were collected by Meera who then took us back safely to our hotel. This was truly an awesome tour and very well worth the cost of 1200myr including the dinner.
Jan was very knowledgeable and kind and Lan was an expert boatman who navigated us safely through the tour… It was a once in a lifetime experience that you really must do when you come and not with any other tour operator. Devs tours are eco friendly and all about nature spotting , not about taking advantage of the beautiful area but to see nature at its best. It was calm, glorious and an evening we will never forget.
